Lightning strikes causes firefighters to respond to multiple fires in Fremont County

ST. ANTHONY — Fremont County firefighters responded to 3 abstracted fires that were caused by lightning connected Thursday.

Two were brushwood fires and happened minutes apart. One was connected Red Road by nan St. Anthony Sand Dunes and nan different was adjacent it. Assistant Fire Chief David Fausett pinch nan South Fremont Volunteer Fire Department said they responded aft 5:40 p.m. 

The brushwood fires were caused by lightning, he said. Both of nan fires were estimated to beryllium astir 20 acres each. 

“We sewage lucky. It wasn’t a barren lightning storm. It rained, and that helped sound down nan fires for us,” Fausett said.
